Private lessons

Ed is a dedicated teacher and is available for on-line (via Zoom, Skype, Facetime) or in person lessons or evaluation sessions in the subjects of composition, arranging, improvisation, trombone or any combination of the above. The first lessons include video lessons recorded by Ed free of charge and for trombone players, Ed’s book Trombone Technique – Through Music. Composition students will receive video presentations on various subjects.

Clinics and Masterclasses

Neumeister is also an experienced clinician, with Masterclasses, Clinics and Concerts at many of the top music Universities and Conservatories throughout the World. Subjects of the lectures include: (but not limited to): Focus, Composition, Arranging, Jazz Improvisation, Big Band, Brass Playing, Musicianship, Improvisation for non-improvisers, Practicing, Posture, Breathing and Meditation and more.

Past artist residencies have included; Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo, Sibelius Akadamia, Helsinki, Finland. Conservatories of Music in Sidney and Perth, Australia, Vienna, Linz & Graz(Austria), Copenhagen, Århus & Odense (Denmark), Malmö (Sweden), Amsterdam, Hilversum, the Haag(The Netherlands) Luzern, Switzerland, New Orleans and San Francisco.  Jazz in August Festival, Lisbon (Portugal), New York University, University of Southern Arizona, University of South Carolina, California State Universities at San Jose, Fullerton, Hayward and Santa Rosa Junior College, Webster University, Virginia Commonwealth University, California Jazz Conservatory – Berkeley, CA, De Anza College, Ohlone College, plus several JEN and IAJE conferences.

Responsibilities include teaching composition, arranging, improvising, small ensembles,
conducting the Jazz Orchestra and individual trombone lessons,
trombone quartets and trombone Ensemble.

Director of Jazz Composition at the Conservatory of Music, Lucerne, Switzerland 2000-2006
(As founder and director of the program, duties included designing, developing and
implementing the curriculum as a three-year Graduate Composition program with an emphasis on Jazz.)
